Spello and the beauty of ancient stone
Arrive in Umbria and check into your accommodation. Spend the afternoon in Spello, where Roman arches, stone lanes and small squares tell a story spanning centuries. Browse the workshops, enjoy views over the Umbrian Valley and soak up the atmosphere of the old town. Evening at leisure, with a local dinner available on request. Overnight stay.
Trevi and Spoleto, olive groves and art
After breakfast, visit Trevi, a hilltop village surrounded by olive groves and closely tied to extra virgin olive oil production. Explore the historic centre and its valley views, with the option of arranging an olive oil tasting at a local mill. Continue to Spoleto, a city rich in art and history, and stroll around Piazza del Duomo, the medieval streets and viewpoints near Ponte delle Torri. Return to the hotel; dinner can be arranged on request. Overnight stay.
Bevagna, Montefalco and Foligno
Travel through the Umbrian Valley, beginning in Bevagna, where the Roman and medieval street plan is remarkably well preserved. Continue to Montefalco, known as the Balcony of Umbria for its far-reaching views. Wine is part of the local identity, with Sagrantino its most celebrated expression. In the afternoon, you may visit Foligno for a stroll through its historic centre and seasonal decorations. Evening at leisure, with dinner available on request. Overnight stay.
Rasiglia, the village of flowing water
After breakfast and check-out, consider a final stop in Rasiglia, a small village at the foot of the Apennines where streams and channels run between old houses and mills. Its little bridges and winding lanes make a memorable end to the journey. Lunch at leisure and independent departure.
Pause by Montefalco’s town walls to take in the Umbrian Valley. On clear winter days, the view stretches across villages, vineyards and distant mountain ridges.
