The three-day, two-night itinerary is built around two wildlife photography experiences in contrasting natural environments, each requiring a different pace and way of observing.
Across the Open Plains
One of the safari days opens onto a landscape that feels unexpected in Umbria: broad plains, a low horizon and an expanse that seems to belong to another continent. The photographic safari takes place by jeep across these open spaces, where large mammals may be encountered living freely and according to their own rhythms. There is no fixed script: each encounter depends on the day, the time and the behaviour of the herd.
Forests & Wetlands
The second safari changes scale. Open landscapes give way to forests and wetlands surrounding Umbria’s lakes and waterways. Here, wildlife photography slows down and calls for patience: silent observation, the right light at dawn or sunset, and a naturalist guide who knows the places and moments when smaller wildlife and birdlife are most likely to reveal themselves.
Wildlife is often an overlooked dimension of Umbria. Including it in the programme helps differentiate the itinerary from the region’s more traditional cultural experiences.
