Perugia: Layers of Time & Excellence
One city, many layers of history, craft and transformation.
Layers of time
Perugia is explored vertically: Etruscan, medieval and Renaissance layers remain visible within the same city.
When material becomes taste
From cocoa to glass, transformation is the thread connecting each stage of the day.
Quiet excellence
Perugina, Moretti and Spagnoli: names that have brought Umbria to international attention, experienced from the inside.
Perugia
Perugia is not understood horizontally. The city is explored layer by layer: medieval streets literally cover the older Etruscan and Roman remains beneath them.
The Etruscan Well, excavated in the third century BC, offers one of the most direct demonstrations of just how deep this historical stratification extends.
Above ground, Palazzo Sorbello preserves the elegance of a noble residence that is still inhabited, opening its rooms to reveal a more private side of Perugia, far removed from the ordinary tourist route.
The experience continues at the historic Perugina factory, where cocoa is transformed into a product that has become part of a century of Italian industrial history.
The tasting is not simply a sample: it is the final stage of a process observed from the beginning.
Alongside the transformation of cocoa comes the transformation of glass at the historic Moretti Glassworks, and of fashion at the Luisa Spagnoli Showroom.
Three Umbrian examples of excellence united by the same principle: taking a raw material and transforming it into a language recognised around the world.
