THE EXPERIENCE

Craft, art and traditions shaped by time.

In the Upper Tiber Valley, this experience unfolds through places and people who still preserve an authentic relationship with their craft. The day begins in Città di Castello, a discreet and elegant Renaissance town where noble palaces and quiet streets introduce you to a more intimate dimension of Umbria.

Inside the historic Tela Umbra weaving workshop, master artisans still work on original wooden looms, carrying forward a tradition that has not been adapted to time, but rather lived through it. The gesture is precise, repeated, essential. Here, production does not accelerate — it endures.

The visit continues through the spaces of the Burri Foundation, where matter becomes artistic language. Burlap sacks, charred wood, iron and textured surfaces express a radical vision that transformed Italian contemporary art. The experience is accompanied by a critical reading that prioritizes understanding over simple observation.

The day moves on with lunch in a historic residence, built around the true seasonality of local products. No replicated menus: every dish is created from what is available at that exact moment.

The final stage leads to a traditional vinsantaia, where a family opens the doors of their cellar to share the production of Vino Santo, one of the rarest expressions of Umbrian winemaking. Here, time is not a concept — it is a practice that requires years of waiting.
